Design as Experience I

A multi-dimensional and multi-sensory research based course, focused on creative processes, that integrate form and content generated within and outside of the class experience. Students will re-examine and explore various temporal, spatial, visual and verbal aspects of communication process. Work will consist of both static and dynamic media presentations and individual and group projects. (3 credits)

Fall Installation

The installation was inspired by my first experience of the beautiful, Bostonian fall. Driven by this experience, I have created the "Fall" installation in the Doran Gallery, MassArt, Boston.The "Fall" installation is composed of real leaves placed in a circle on the floor of the gallery. The leaves are shaped as a perfect circle, made out of two hues of leaves. At the middle of the circle, there are red leaves which are surrounded by yellow and brown leaves. The Rope Project

As a 2–week project, Design As Experience students were asked to create a cumulative “visual response” to a length of rope. This was an opportunity for me to overcome my initial reaction against an unpleasant material and to explore the impact of documentation of the relics of a performance.  read more »

Untitled (Rope)

An exploration of a piece of rope as an object and a material.

Each student was given a piece of rope, approximately four feet long. The assignment was to interact with the rope for fifteen minutes, every day, for fourteen days, and to document the interactions. The type of interaction was left up to the student, as was the medium of documentation.  read more »

The Rope Project

The Rope Project.
I approached this project by deconstructing the rope. I decided to convert the rope into a tool. I started by becoming familiar with the rope. I played, dragged, and tied it into different knots. The interaction made the rope more flexible and easy to handle.

Restrictions - 15 minutes every day for 14 days.  read more »

InsideOut

Digital information in tangible form puts knowledge transfer into the receivers’ hand by forming a direct relationship with the receiver. This method also appeals to multiple senses. InsideOut is a prototype for an installation that investigates language through simultaneous engagement with textural objects and associated sounds.  read more »

Untitled 1 was created in my second semester at MassArt for the Design as Experience class where I was given the task of creating an experience. I chose to shoot in black and white, a thirty-second film that showed a close-up of me shaving.  read more »
