Call for publication: dynamic media assignments and case studies
This is a call for assignments and case studies covering the diverse range of activities that comprise the discipline of dynamic media.
I am soliciting projects and syllabi for inclusion in an upcoming publication that aims to serve as a resource for educators and students looking to merge traditional visual design principles and pedagogy with the emerging principles of dynamic (or interactive) media.
The book seeks to define commonly understood areas of dynamic media instruction and will present concrete examples of how these issues are addressed within design curriculum at leading undergraduate and graduate institutions.
Areas of of particular interest include, but are in no way limited to:
System (processes, systems and algorithms)
Structure (user analysis, information architecture)
Surface (from paper to pixel, visual interfaces, computational form)
Sequence (temporality, motion literacy, narrative, gameplay)
Sense (experience design, tangible/physical media)
This book is not looking to introduce a single “approved†method of dynamic media pedagogy. Instead, it seeks to provide a variety of models of how this content is taught around the world.
I would very much like to have representation from a wide range of institutions. If you teach within any of these areas (at any undergraduate or graduate level) and are interested in submitting please follow the format below and send to brian.lucid (at) me.com.
