Provocative Objects: the extradition, a cyberSurreal exhibit-event. Friday, November 12, 2010

Please join us on Friday, November 12, 2010 in The Patricia Doran Gallery at Massachusetts College of Art and Design for the cyberSurreal, interdisciplinary and immersive exhibit-event & experience:

Provocative Objects

Provocative Objects: the extradition features works from 30 international artists, including immersive sound installations, interactive sculpture, and live performance. Through playful interactivity and artistic provocation, selected artists use performance and new media to transform ordinary objects and traditional artworks into experimental interfaces for communication and audience participation. The exhibition’s one-night run will close with a live performance by local rockers Stereo Soul Future, featuring current Dynamic Media Institute student Christopher Field.

“I think what’s most unique about Provocative Objects is that the work will be extremely interdisciplinary and loosely related through each artist’s individual interpretation of the show’s title and description,” says lou suSi, co-curator of the exhibition along with fellow DMI student David Tamés. “We’ve collected a unique and diverse body of work from all over the world that will definitely blur the lines and provoke our gallerygoers on a variety of levels. I love that the work includes everything from ‘high fi’ to ‘low fi’ to ‘no fi’ approaches to the concept of provocation.” Selected artists contributed works influenced by surrealism and contemporary participatory performance art, using interactive media to comment on our social and emotional relationships with objects and technology.

Gallery doors will open at 6pm for the official reception and performative fun. The full event functionality will officially run until 10pm { or beyond } with a casual afterparty celebration to follow at a nearby area venue.

Co-curated by The Dynamic Media Institute's very own David Tamés and lou suSi, Provocative Objects thusfar includes the eclectic works of Alison Kotin { DMI }, Courtney Lockemer { SIM }, Ellen Godena { Mobius }, Scott Murray { DMI and beyond }, Colin Owens { DMI and Shapemix }, Joshua Dolby { caughtYOUpicking | Screwdriver.tv }, Phillippe Lejeune, David Tamés, lou suSi, Laugh Foundation and other artists, designers & performers. Featured musical act: Stereo Soul Future { including CK Field from DMI }.
