DMI Congratulates Alison Kotin, Winner of the SOLO 2012 Competition at Boston's Bromfield Gallery
DMI alumni Alison Kotin (MFA 2011) was recently selected by Boston's Bromfield Gallery as the winner of its SOLO 2012 Competition. Alison was awarded an all expenses paid solo show at the South End gallery.
Alison's exhibition, Listen Close, "is an exhibition of tactile new media works exploring narrative, performance, and musical composition. Touch- and motion-activated music and story interfaces (including an instrument made from cats’ whiskers and the voices of a 30-person chorus) add a layer of metaphor and responsiveness to familiar objects and places. Visitors are invited to touch, listen, and play."
Alison plans to exhibit several projects from her work at DMI including the wonderful Whisker Organ, a digital instrument using notes produced by a choir and played by plucking cat whiskers.
Listen Close runs from January 4 - 28, 2012 with an opening reception on Friday, January 6 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm at the Bromfield Gallery, click here for more details.
